Bell Project

Dear Friends,

On Thursday, February 12, 2009, the Women's 20th Century Club of Eagle Rock will hold its 105th Founders' Day celebration with a significant historic event. We hope you will be able to share this special program and luncheon with us.

To mark the occasion of our 105th birthday and to celebrate the CFWC’s long-standing commitment to the Bell Project, we plan to install a commemorative bell on our Club House grounds.

Originally, on August 15, 1906, the first bell was installed at the Pueblo De Los Angeles Mission Church at Olvera Street where it still stands today! It's been over 100 years since the first bell was hung in Los Angeles. Additional bells can be seen along Highway 101 as a reminder of our California culture and heritage. We are proud to say that members of the California Federation of Women's Clubs installed these bells and a Mrs. ASC Forbes designed the original historic bell.

As active members of this same organization, it is fitting that our club and the community at large carry on this meaningful tradition. With this is mind, we are in the process of raising funds in the amount of $4,000 for the costs involved. This includes a memory dedication plaque with the inscription of individual, family or business names of those who donate $100 or more. This plaque will be proudly displayed inside our Clubhouse for all those who enter our doors to view.

We are accepting donations in any amount and would greatly appreciate your support. Click here to open the donation form. Please plan to join us for this significant celebration.

Sincerely,

Eugénie Nogueira
President
